I think you're on the right track there... There was also confusion
(and still is) as to which companies consider a megabyte to be 1024
bytes and which consider them to be 1000 bytes.
I know 24 bytes doesn't sound like a lot, until you buy a 2 gigabyte
memory stick only to find out that it has 1,953 megabytes (less,
counting the file system) on it. :^)
