| Does the new Slimline PS2 still require the "online start-up disc" to get
online? Or is this software also built-in to the hardware?

| As far as I remember, you do NOT need a disc to get online but it has
been awhile since I hooked mine up. You should be able to plug in the
ethernet cable and with a memory card, configure your settings and
you're online.
