I love a good threadjack!
I picked up my preorder yesterday (Wednesday). It had just come in
with that days' delivery.
Annoying that it makes you play the tutorial, but at least it's much
shorter than in the first one.
The cut scenes and intermissions are still extrememly bizarre, and
changed enough that it doesn't feel like just a rehash (though I would
have been happy with that). The music is also terrific, though maybe
a little overproduced compared to the first one's stellar (ha ha)
soundtrack.
Only played the tutorial and the first mission so far, so no comments
on the gameplay yet, except to say that it feels strangely familiar...
And value priced at $30, too!

I'm picking up my copy today as well. Any idea why they pumped the
price up $10 from the original? Perhaps because it has a cult
following now and they know we'll pay it.

Supply & demand.
The first game was a risk, so they kept the price low to entice buyers.
Now, they know it's an established franchise, so time to hike the price.
*grumble*
*going to buy his copy tommorow anyways*

Yeah, you're probably right. But $30 for this game is still a steal.
(say that three times fast)

Ding ding! Winnah!
Since I probably would have paid $40-50 for it, $30 still seems
more than reasonable. According to previews, there's more scenarios,
areas, and objects in WLK, as well as expanded multi-player
options. The manual shows three MP arenas, compared to just one in the
first game, for instance.
It's worth the extra $10 just to show developers that there are people
willing to pay for something other than the tired genre rehashes that
clog up the shelves. In my opinion, of course.

ahhh, you lucky people should stop complaining about getting games a couple
of days late or having to pay slightly extra for them... Try being a PAL
gamer - we almost never get any of the good games, and half the time we get
games 6 months to a year AFTER the NTSC release dates...
I'm betting "We Love Katamari" will never get a PAL release - or if we do
then at least not within the next 9 months... Now, how does that song go?
"If you look closer you'll see - the track of my tears!" Everytime a good
game gets released in the states I cry like a baby... and they say men
don't cry...
