"You don't know the POWER of the BLU RAY."
I'm not sure exactly what's taking up the space. My guess would be
lots of textures and lots of DD audio. And compared to the previous
generation, it's a smaller jump in assets. CD-ROMs were what, 650MB.
DVDs are 7 Gig. That's roughly a factor of 10. Blu Rays are 25-50
Gig, a factor of 4 to 7. So it's actually a smaller increase than last
generation.
I expected microsoft to go with HD-DVD at launch. That would have
fueled a HUGE format war, which wouldn't have been a good thing, but
it's what I was expecting. And they may go with HD-DVD yet, according
to some reports:

That would have been better than not supporting any HD media at launch.
I mean hell... they could have even gone with Blu Ray if they didn't
rush to market... just to be equally capable.
