I went to my local EB today to see if they will have "WE love Katamari"
in tomorrow. Unfortunately it will not be in until Wednesday.
If a game is to be released on Tuesday and they accept preorders
then they should be obliged to have the game on release date. I
here Target has had their shipment for a while and I plan on
going there tomorrow to pick up mine.

Target and BB say the release is 9/22. Gamestop says 9/20

It's not like the world is going to end if you don't get to play your
game on release day. Take a chill pill. About 99.9% of the time EBGames
is THE place to pre-order, they almost always beat everyone else. I
wouldn't even consider pre-ordering at any other store.

How the hell does "EBGames suck"???????????

Just because Target broke the street date ages ago does not mean other
stores will. EVERY single date listed on EBGames' and GameStop's
websites are the *SHIPPING DATES* the games are sent out to their
stores and *NOT* the "in store" date. Is this concept really that
hard for you XXXXtards to understand?????? Best Buy doesn't get games
shipped early either. No real reason as to how or why Target got
Katamari two weeks early, but they did. Get over it. Get a XXXXing
clue.

Thats not all true. EBGames will stock games in the store for what they
call AAA titles. This would be Halo 2. The lower titles they
ship to their store on the release date and the game gets to the store
the following day or so. I've seen some $19.99 titles take at
least a week to get to the store after the release date. If a game
has a release date and it is a popular title then EB will have
it in the store by the release date.

If you think that's bad you should try the stores we have here in NZ (not
just EB either). Once I preordered a game about a month in advance... I
did NOT get the game on the release date, even though the place promises day
one delievery on all preorders... I waited a month with no messages from
the place, and looking at their website the game is listed as being "In
Stock - Normally ships in 2 to 10 days". I e-mailed them, and was told that
they're having problems getting stock, but that they are expecting some in a
couple of days... I waited three more weeks, recieving no e-mails from
them, and the game still being listed as being "in stock". I ended up
cancelling my "preorder" - nearly two months after the game was released.

The interesting thing about preordering is that I have never had
problems getting any game I wanted the weekend after the initial
releease- even the hottest titles- by simply going to my closest mall.
The only time I even consider preordering is when there is a special
deal (and I generally only find deals that are worthwhile for DVDs from
online stores.) Back when Ocarina of Time came out for the N64, I got
it as a gift, and my parents preordered it. It came with a T-shirt for
the preorder. Not a bad quality one either. But I personally wouldn't
have paid for it myself. (although, as a birthday gift, it was a nice
addition :-)

The hardest games to find the first week, IMO, are the "closet
classics" or unique style games, which most stores won't get a lot of
copies. For example, Katamari Damacy was not easy to get (although the
sequel, which started this thread, is much easier).

Oh, I saw We Love Katamari on the shelf in a local EB last weekend. It
didn't have a "coming soon" sticker on it, but I didn't try to buy it,
so I don't know if it was available or not.

EB's website lists the release date as 9/21. I haven't seen the game in
any stores yet. Frys thinks they might get it in tommorow or Friday.

I walked into the local Gamestop just as the UPS driver was dropping off
the weeks deliveries. I got the first one out of the box. Too cool.
