Author PGR3 will not be a launch title

The xflop 1.5 full circle launch title list gets shorter and shorter,
weaker and weaker, lamer and lamer.

http://www.totalvideogames.com/news...8350_4659_0.htm

Rumours and speculation have begun to spread around the web that one of
the assumed launch titles for Xbox 360 will not be in actual fact a
launch title at all. A report on Xbox community site Talk Xbox has
described a recent visit to EA and mentioned that, "...everyone there
at EAX Canada doesn't expect PGR3 to make launch...Microsoft has
apparently been giving EA all the help they can give with getting Most
Wanted out at launch (which they are on track to do), and they
wouldn't be doing that as much as they are if they had their own
racing game ready for launch. Also, PGR3 is very ambitious, and from
what they've seen it won't make launch."

Whilst this is certainly hearsay at this stage with the Microsoft
mantra "we [Microsoft] can't comment on rumour and speculation"
ringing in our ears, if Project Gotham Racing 3 turns out to miss the
Xbox 360 launch it will mean that the next-gen console will be relying
on third-party titles as well as Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero from
recently underachieving Microsoft Game Studios developer, Rare.

With no Halo 3 to form a launch pad for the system this year, and the
prospect of PGR3 coming in a second wave of Xbox 360 titles (which will
include the highly anticipated Gears of War - also a Microsoft Game
Studios title) the weight of responsibility on Rare's shoulders is
not to be underestimated. Having said that the developer has an
illustrious history so if the rumour does turn out to be correct, Rare
are sure to rise to the challenge (we hope).

Consider the source... It's not Microsoft or Bizarre Creations saying
this... it's Electronic Arts. Gee, they couldn't have an ulterior
motive for talking down a competing game, could they?

What launch game will they have competing with PGR3?

I don't necessarily know if many people will consider those competitors. I
know they are both driving games but most wanted seems to have a much
different premise. I would not mind owning both because they do seem to be
so different.

That was his point Steven. The "launch window" thing was some crap
developed by Sony during the PS2 release for games that wouldn't make the
initial date. Now everyone is starting to use it.

Doesn't matter. Ridge Racer and Wipeout Pure are completely different, but
if you suggest one to someone who already has the other, they'll usally say
"I already have a racing game".

Not really the same. I think most people who own Burnout and Forza don't
even consider them remotely similar.

Sure, the people who own both feel that way. They're racing fans.

Ask the very casual racing fan, one who probably _doesn't_ own
both but might own one, and see if the differences are enough to entice
them to buy the other.

I own both and I definitely don't consider myself a "racing fan" per se. I
picked up Forza because of the hype and Burnout because the PSP version blew
me away in terms of fun factor.
