Author Where Are The PSP Games?

Okay, so I'm at the local Wal-Mart and they have *30* different UMD
movies for the PSP (none of which are "must own" movies,
IMO--especially not at $19 and up). At the same time, they've only got
12-14 PSP games. WTF? I didn't buy my PSP to watch movies, did any of
you? Who the heck is buying all these films...not to mention a $250
player to watch them on?

Geez...when the PS3 launches, I sure hope the Blu-Ray movies don't
outnumber the actual games 2 to 1...

Damn good question. Coded Arms SUCKS (I had such high hopes), Dead to Rights
is too short, Midnight Club 3 is great but the load times are freakin'
ridiculous... I still find myself going back to the old standbys of Hot
Shots Golf and even Lumines. Burnout and GTA are the only two games on the
horizon I'm really stoked about. The PSP is an awesome machine, but it seems
like it's taking a long time for the catalog of games to get up to speed.

On the plus side, at least you can now get a bunch of free NES and SNES
games for the PSP...

Not be be a funny guy but EA has promised Franchise mode on the go for
Madden and IGN describes an RPG or two that I will definitely pick up. Gun
is coming to the PSP and the write on that game in Game Informer looks mind
blowing. Marvel Nemesis and Burnout Legends look pretty sweet from the
videos I have seen on IGN. World Poker Tour 2K6 will have many online
modes. There is Bounty Hounds for Action RPG fans. It is described as a
cross between Untold Legends and Dynasty Warriors. The Pursuit game looks
very fun. Also, in terms of movies, try Sam's Club. I picked up Napoleon
Dynamite and Half Baked for about $11 or $12 bucks. I think it works the
same way at Costco.

As long as you didn't upgrade your firmware past 1.5. Then you have to run
something that sets it back.

I played those on the PS2. They're pretty fun.

Honestly, it seems like the DS is going to be the machine with the games
this season. I think Sony's trying to figure out their niche right now and
trying to figure out what games to port to it to maximize that niche.

And I hate looking at release date lists. I am trying to see when new games
are coming out but I have to through pages of UMD movies. I think the only
game I am looking forward to at this point is Infected. Lumines is the only
game that my PSP gets a workout on right now.

Dude, Fred. Dave Chappelle made that movie a cult classic. There are about
35-45 quotable lines from that movie alone that you could go through with
your friends and have non-stop laughs.

You're going to go to your PSP with friends, all huddled around giggling?

That movie was horrible. It had all the talent they needed, but such a shit
movie.

No, but that's one of the methods I can use to bring it to the masses one by
one. Kind of a Chapelle evangelism.

The plot may have been the best but I'll be damned if you can't tell me that
they converted the stupidity into intense humor a la Dumb and Dumber. It is
very close to one of my top 10 comedies ever (out of the modern ones).

1)Trading Places
2)Beverly Hills Cop
3)Stir Crazy
4)Rush Hour
5)History of the World Part 1
6)Monty Python and the Holy Grail
7)Friday
8)The Sandlot
9)The Breakfast Club
10)48 Hours

For me, 2-7 are fairly interchangeable based on which one I have seen more
recently. It just so happened that I have seen all of them more recently
than The Holy Grail with the exception of Stir Crazy. There is no beating
Trading Places for me but I can work with the others.

Of those listed I would only have The Holy Grail in my top ten. History of
the World would be close to getting in there though. Let me see what I come
up with off the top of my head for a top ten of my own...in no specific
order though...

Holy Grail
Life of Brian
Meaning of Life
Young Frankenstien
South Park
Airplane
A Christmas Story
History of the World
Cheech and Chong:Up in Smoke

Thats nine...will stop there for now ;)

For me, Meaning of life and Airplane were just barely on the outside looking
in. I remember Up in Smoke being the funniest thing I had ever watched at
the age of 8 or nine but haven't seen it since. For some reason, I don't
remember Life of Brian even though I am sure I have seen it. South Park
would not crack my top 1000 let alone my top 10.

Life of Brian, another Python flick. That is the one based on the bible,
loosely based on the bible that is ;)

Maybe I have it confused with the Meaning of Life but I thought THAT was
based loosely on the Bible. Which one starts off with the Catholics having

It doesn't exactly start with the Catholics and all the kids, but that is
towards the early part of the movie...that one is Meaning of Life. Rent Life
of Brian sometime and watch it again...classic stuff in that one ;)

My list of favorite comedies would include:

Trading Places
Caddyshack
Stripes
Blazing Saddles
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Meaning of Life
Airplane
The Blues Brothers
Animal House
Back to School

Young Frankenstein, Galaxy Quest, Noises Off, History of the World:
Part One, and A Christmas Story almost make the cut, as does 1941--a
movie which few people enjoyed, but which I still find hilarious.

1941 just misses out of my top ten.

Young Frankenstein and another Mel Brooks classic, High Anxiety do
though.

As do (it seems everyone elses favorites) Monty Python and the Holy
Grail and Life of Brian. Meaning of Life falls just short of making the
top ten, but "Wafer thin Mint" is a line I use all the time.

But no one else has any love for older ones like Who's Minding the
Mint?, Sleeper, and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World?

After some thought, I typed the last list off the top of my head and in a
hurry and only had nine also. Final list as of now I think would be this...

1-Holy Grail (no doubt about this one being #1)
2-Young Frankenstien
3-Airplane
4-South Park
5-Blazing Saddles
6-Life of Brian
7-Meaning of Life
8-Animal House
9-History of the World
10-Caddyshack

I think I could live with that list...though 2-10 are easily interchangable,
but that would work for ten faves.

That scene in the resteraunt kills me EVERY time, the bucket, the lady

Life of Brian is hilarious, lots of little things in it...as there are in
