Is the PSP $200 or $250 for the unit itself?

In the US, I presume? Thought the latest and greatest price rumor had the
PSP at $280US? I'll take it at $250 (or even better, $200) though!

Last news was $250 in the US for the unit, a memory stick, a carrying
case/strap, the rechargeable battery and AC adaptor, and a Spider-man 2
UMD...but no separate package with just the unit by itself.

US Price - I do not think they are selling just the unit - you have to buy
the Value Pack for $249.99 (includes vinyl sleeve, demo UMD, Spiderman UMD,
Strap etc

I pre-ordered mine from EB Games locally.

That wouldn't be that bad, but from most place you also need to preorder
something like 3 games+additional equipment just to get on the preorder
list. So you need to pay something around $400, even you really just
want the unit.

Online only. Just go to a store and preorder the value pack by itself.

Yeah, what he said ^^ Your local EBGames, Gamestop etc is only charging
$250 for the Value-pak pre-order. Of course, this does not come with a game
but it gives you the freedom to choose how many you want to buy at launch,
if any.

what happened to the $185 price tag?

People assumed it would cost $185 in the US because that's the equivalent
price in Japan, but Sony decided they'd rather force us to buy the "value
pack" bundle, which includes such stunning extras as a cleaning cloth and
vinyl case.

Who is forcing you to buy anything? Don't like it, don't buy it.

If you want a PSP, esp at launch.. You're pretty much forced to buy the
bundle.

Unless some stores are selling the unit by itself, which I haven't seen yet.

The "value" pack is the PSP version of undercoating on a new car, except you
can't even go to another dealer who will sell you the car without the
useless extras. But whatever, I fully intend to make my money back by
securing two PSPs at launch and selling the second one on eBay for a huge
profit. That ought to add some worth to the "value" pack. Kudos to Sony for
yet again failing to meet their own console launch supply quotas.

I was at my local wherehouse the today and they're taking pre-orders for a
bundle pack which includes the value pack and a game
of your choice for $299. I might put some money down on one since you only
have to put down $25 and I was planning on buying a game anyway. Also know
one else had preordered one so I would definitely be getting one at launch.

If you REALLY want one at launch and have found a place like that then
you better jump on it...all indicators are that the PSP is going to be
gone quick and hard to come by early on.
