| God damn this game rocks. God damn. This and God of War are worth buying a
PS2 for alone. Though they're pretty much all I've played on my PS2 in the
last six months. But still.
13 Colossi into the game and I'm still saying "holy crap, that was cool" in
each new battle. I almost don't want to do the last three, because then
it'll be over. Same way I felt about Ico.
Please let this team be working on something for the PS3. Anybody know if
they are?

GoW is/was incredible...one of THE best games I have played in sometime.
SOTC, I finally picked up Friday and it is fantastic!! Will not be able to
give it the time I TRULY want to till this coming week though. Sat/Sun is
reserved for football viewing...I got in some, keyword some, time with SOTC
friday evening, and then some this morning before the football games got
going. The makers of ICO/SOTC are right now IMO making the best, most
interesting, memorable, and likely what ever other terms you want to use,
games out there right now. And like you I most likely will be sad when the
game is over...just like when I finished ICO. The good part is you can do it
all over again ;) I played ICO all over again after I finished it, and
likely will do the same with SOTC also.

Time attack changes things up in an interesting way, as some of the
easier colossi are actually hard to take down quickly. In fact, just to
illustrate, I found #8 and #14 to be quite easy in time attack, whereas
#2 and #3 are very uncooperative.

It is indeed a great game. People have generally said Nintendo is known
for first party games, and Sony for third party, but games like SotC,
GoW, R&C, J&D, Sly, GT4 shows Sony's game development can stand with
the best of them.

Kinds sucks that they are not already working on a PSP project. It would sure
be sweet if they had been working on one for a year or so and it was close to
coming out.

Personally I would put Sony ahead of Nintendo in the game development area
in terms of quantity and quality coming out from Sony than Nintendo...and
especially in regards to NEW series/characters/franshises. The main thing
keeping Nintendo alive is Mario/Zelda/Metroid basically. They have fallen
way out of the picture in terms of new characters/franchises...Sony has
really taken off in this area, add in the SOCOM series to that list also.
Nintendo is not even close IMO compared to the quantity and quality of games
coming out from Sony during this round of consoles. I hope that Sony keeps
it rolling however, it's about time to see something new from some of them
as the J&D, R&C games are getting into the area I start to consider milking
it...once you put out a racing/cart game or something like that then you can
tell the series has offered about all it really has to give.

I agree to a certain extent. Nintendo makes top notch games, but they
don't experiment with different types of games as much. They play it
safe and stick with what they know best. That is their established
franchises. Once in a while they'll make a game outside of those
genres, but they'll usually try and tie it in using characters from
their main franchises to give it more selling power. Their
non-franchise games have been relatively few and far between, and
generally havn't resulted in very stellar products (eg: Geist). Sony's
first and second party library is more diverse. eg:
platform - R&C, J&D, Sly, Ape Escape
3rd person action - GoW, Genji
Adventure - ICO/SotC
RPG - Arc the Lad, Wild Arms
action RPGs - Dark Cloud, Champions
Survival Horror - Extermination, Siren
FPS - SOCOM
Racing - GT
MMORPG - EQOA
Music - Parappa, Frequency/Amplitude
Unique games - Lifeline, Mosquito, Surveillance

Did you happen to catch the developer interview on G4TV.com? He said
something along the lines of the game would not sell nearly close to what it
should because it is not wrapped in fancy license packaging.

Are you kidding me? Are you ridiculous enough to attack PRO-PS2 posts as
well? There has got to be something wrong with you if this is the depth you

LMAO. I knew you'd respond to this post, because it kills you that I enjoy
the best games the PS2 has to offer. Every time I play a GoW or SOTC or
MGS3, you feel like I'm XXXXing your sister. Sorry Bligs, but this is what
being a gamer is about. You get to enjoy the best games on all the systems.
Too bad your blind hatred of a toy keeps you from doing that with Xbox and
Gamecube games.

Yet another one of Bligmerk's graphic gay references coming out of nowhere.
Didn't you just accuse someone else of doing this? You need to keep your
fantasies to yourself, really.

Doubtful. Sony's launch games are usually medicore at best. But when the
good games do come out I'll be here (or in
alt.games.video.sony-playstation3) raving about them, just as I've always
raved about great PS2 exclusives in this group. And until that happens, I'll
be playing next-gen games on the 360. Mmmm, your sister is sooooo creamy.

Sad but true. It's like a great independent movie getting killed at the box
office by some shitty sequel.

Insomniac (R&C) and Sucker Punch (Sly) aren't first party companies.

Which games are these? They all look like this generation games to me
with better graphics.

The PSP version of Katamari Damacy is getting poor previews because of
the control. Apparently the single analog control isn't working out
too well.

If this is was in reference to the list of Sony 1st Party games...
Katamari Damacy is from Namco.
Shadow of the Colossus is great, but I'm stuck with the 8th? one (the one
in the arena-like hole). I thought you're supposed to attack the legs as
they're white, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

They have said that on G4 on a couple of different shows so I am really
hoping that they fix that.

His weak spot is on his belly, so you need to get him on his back somehow. A
fall from a height might do it. And his legs being white are definitely a
sign that they are vulnerable. Hope this helps.

** spoiler warning **
As with many of the Colossi, once you figure out how to do it, you can beat
him in less than five minutes easily. As for getting down to him, as long as
you're only a couple floors up, you can just jump and not take much damage.
It took me only two rounds of knocking him off the wall, jumping down and
running up his tail to his stomach.
I'm stuck on 15 but I don't want to consult a walkthrough. I'm thinking you
have to get to the bridges wayyyy up above and jump down to his head or
something, but I can't find any way to get to them. Every time I've been
stuck and thought "this is impossible!" a little light bulb has finally come
on, but it's not happening with this one. Have you made it this far? Got a
hint?
