Unlike a few other review sites, 1UP actually waited until the final
retail version was in thier hands before they reviewed it.

http://1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3145021&did=1

"The game suffers little in the transition to the PS2, unless you're
willing to sit with the GameCube version side-by-side. Even then,
despite some dithered textures and loss of geometry, the PS2 trumps the
GameCube original with Progressive Scan and true widescreen mode (the
GameCube version faked that funk)."

Damn, with all the incredible power of the PS2, with all of it's totally
incredible bandwidth and pixel fillrates along with the emotion engine, as
incredibly OVERPOWERING as the mighty PS2 is, this multiplatform title is
still visually inferior to it's competition.... yet again. Man, what is
going on here? The PS2 must be SOOO incredibly advanced and complex that no
one is worthy of its programming structure and just can't figure things out.
That must be it.

Ha, pretty sad... how long has the GC version been out now? And after all
this time with working on the MIGHTY PS2 port, long after the original
release on the GC(a kid's toy mind you), the Mighty PS2 version is still
visually inferior with washed out textures and simpler geometry among other
things, and isn't quite up to par with the version that i play on a piece of
hardware you can carry around like a purse. Mighty PS2! Mighty PS2!

Too bad, Mike B-4-Buttplug. Your seething jealousy of another AAA title
for the PS2 is only so transparent. RE4 PS2 has a very minor texture
quality degrade compared to the Gamecube version, but it is almost
universally agreed that the 480p and 16:9 true widescreen more than
make up for the slight decrease in texture quality. Plus it has Ada
Wong. It was a big seller for the Gamecube, over 500,000. It is flying
off the shelves for the PS2 and will no doubt be a multi-million
seller.

Why would i be jealous when i have had a version for several months already
that is still superior? The texture quality degradation isn't just minor
either. How about you put them side by side?

Graphics (on PS2 version) look great to me on big screen, but I didn't
see any option for 480p support, just 16:9. What am I missing?

No need to put them side by side.
The PS2 version uses the GC versions cutscenes so anyone who owns the
PS2 version can easily look for the differences.

The result?

The GC version looks a bit better in terms of texturing and that's
about it. So it's really a toss up.

On the one hand you get true widescreen with 100,000 more pixels of
resolution and a wider field of view.

On the other hand you get slightly better textures.

Wrong XXXX-face. It's universally agreed that the PS2 version is
graphically worse. Whether it's due to the scaled back lighting, less
scenery on screen (such as trees, etc), or poorer textures, take your
pick. Not to mentioned the slower load times on the PS2 version.

But if waiting over eight months for a scaled down port is something to
get excited about, be my guest. I mean it's not like you ever ragged
on Xbox owners for being excited about the GTA ports that would always
come down the pike a year later you hypocrite-XXXX.

Anyway, if you care to discuss this more, feel free to call me. I"m
still waiting pussy.

Bull XXXXing Shit.
1UP claimed the PS2 version was better in many ways since it offered
true widescreen support and progressive scan. Most reviewers, except
for Gamespot the Xbots, claim the only difference is slightly duller
textures. It's not like GC version had good textures to begin with
anyway.

Mm.. i don't wanna be a graphics whore.
But i read always, that the differences are minor.
In fact, if you never played the GC version, you probably don't even
notice the difference.
Besides, to play Ada Wong is alone tempting.
I would say, if you go for the graphics, then yes you should get the
GC version. Otherwise just get the PS2 version.

What? Acknowledging the mistake you made making yourself look like a
stupid fool in public? The boards are full of Gamecube players, having
played both versions, saying Resident Evil 4 PS2 is very slightly
graphically degraded, so that it is almost unnoticeable. And a lot of
those Gamecubers say they are getting the PS2 version as well for the
additional content like the Ada Wong levels plus being able to play it
in progressive and true widescreen. There are even a few Gamecubers
that are saying they are going out to buy a PS2 just to play this game.

Too bad the jealousy and envy of you xflop fanfairies is so blatantly

I played GTA3 and GTAVC on the PS2 but waited for GTA:SA on the Xbox. With
GTA3 and Vice City we didn't know when they were coming out or even if they
were coming out on the Xbox. With GTA:SA we knew that Sony only had a six
month exclusive. Again with RE4 we didn't have a clue it was coming out on
another system but the year would have been to long to wait anyways. From what
I've read the Cube version had the better graphics anyways. I will always wait
for the best version when they are only talking months apart for the release.
The only cross platform title that I opted for the PS2 version over the Xbox
version was Need for Speed:Hot Pursuit which was better on the PS2 by a
longshot.

Holley was right. As big a two-faced cocklicking hypocrite as you are, this
takes the cake. Substitute RE4 for GTA: Vice City and San Andreas, and
you've got Xbox owners being excited about getting an awesome game ported to
their system. Only difference is the Xbox ports of GTA are better than the
PS2 version. Too bad the same can't be said about the RE4 port.

It's absolutely hysterical watching you defend the exact same thing you have
made a pathetic existence out of criticizing. Keep it up.

When I imagine Bligmerk sitting in his stained La-Z-Boy playing PC games in
far lower resolutions than they're capable of with a mouse and a keyboard
sitting in his lap, I truly don't know whether to laugh or cry.
