| I have to harp in on this again.
Even if the ps3 has more under the hood than next, I have no doubt the
latter will be more developer friendly. I would argue micro$oft has
gotten alot 3rd party ppl on board beacuse the xbox is so much easier
to write for. People knew the ps2 was going to be hard to code for
because of it's foreign architecture.
That kind of accessablity, i think, can tip the scales. Halo 2's
polygon meshes actually have fewer polygons because the same tools are
being advanced for the PC at a blistering pace. The xbox has what, an
nv4? My current card can't do half the shader tricks the xbox can.
Not great by todays PC standards, but amazing for the price.
I also remember towards the end of ps1's life, ppl really learned how
to utilize the hardware, but it took awhile. I remember crash bandi
was the first game to spool data of the disk into the little ram it
had.. duh, of coarse. Something that simple can tip the scales.
The fact that the xbox2 has a risc proc baffles and intrigues.
....coming from microsoft.
It's anyones guess.
