I have a v4 PS2 that has been out of warranty for a long time.
Recently, I opened it up to clean the DVD drive because it seemed to be
sticking. After I put it back together, the reset and power buttons do
not light up. I googled the topic but found very little information. I
can turn on the switch and I know the system is getting power because
it heats up, but the reset/eject buttons do not light up or powerup the
system. Does this seem like a fuse problem or is it more likely just
the connection between the reset/eject buttons and the system.

The reset and power buttons are connected to the main board by a very
thin, and *VERY* short ribbon cable. If you aren't careful when opening
the unit, it's very easy to pull the ribbon cable out of its connector on
the main board. If you look on the web for instructions about opening
your PS2, you'll see that they all put in warnings about being careful
about this cable because it can be difficult to plug it back in.

Fortunatly, it can be done and that should get your PS2 working again.
Again, the sites showing you how to open your PS2 should include a shot of
this connector with the cable in it, so you'll know what to look for.
