Grand Theft Auto coming this Spring for PSP
|
|
|
| Rockstar has announced that a GTA title is being readied for the launch (or
around the launch) of the PSP in the US. The storyline wasn't revealed, but
it takes place in Libery City. Port of GTA3? Who knows.

I thought I saw screenshots already and it was a "blimp" view of things like
the original GTAs? I might be confusing it with something else though
(though it did say Vice City was the location)

You may be thinking of the recent Gameboy Advance version, which is
top-down viewed...

I take it, then, that you weren't that excited when the N64 games debuted on
the Nintendo DS, or all those SNES games debuted on GBA? Let's face
it--almost all of Nintendo's handheld games have been retreads of old
titles. I see nothing wrong with bringing some of the best PlayStation
titles (Twisted Metal, Medievil, Gran Turismo, Wipeout, Hot Shots Golf, GTA)
to the PSP. After all, none of them have been on handheld systems before.
Now, if that's all we get, then I'll be disappointed.
This is huge news. The best-selling series of the last decade as a *launch
title* on the most technologically advanced handheld ever to be released.
As if the PSP wasn't going to sell well before, now there is another good
reason for people to pick one up...especially the 18-24 year-old market that
Sony is targeting.

I am hoping they come out with something original to really entice people. Why
play on a handheld with a smaller screen and smaller speakers when you can
play the same game on the console? Unless you spend most of your time away
from home, there's no appeal. Some original content that isn't available on a
full-sized console would really make people take notice. (Sorta like Kingdom
Hearts on the PS2 and Chain of Memories on the GBA.) Right now I think all the
hype is over the potential, but if they fail to deliver, there's gonna be a
lot of pissed off people out there.

| PSP XXXXing kicks the DS' XXX all over the place. Lumines alone is better
than anything on the DS at the moment.

Hello Lumines. Nothing like it on a console.
