PS3 ripped off by UPS!!!
|
|
|
| Last week I purchased a PS3 from BestBuy.com
Best Buy shipped the item on the 4th and I tracked the item all the way to
my state (Hawaii)
Well, that's were it ended (or started...depending on your view)
It was on a truck "Out on delivery" from the 9th.....not delivered
It was on a truck "Out on delivery" on the 10th....not delivered
It was on a truck "Out on delivery" on the 11th....not delivered
I ended up calling UPS on the 11th....after I gave them my tracking number
the girl said that the package was on a truck "Out on delivery"....not in so
many words but I pretty much told her that was the biggest pile of shit I
have ever heard of....the box couldn't have been on a truck in Hawaii for
the past 3 days....I guess she realized this and tried to spin out of it.
She asked me a bunch of questions like "What's the value of the package",
"What was in the box", etc....After I gave her the information she said she
would put a tracer on the package and that someone would call me.....I guess
you can figure what happened next...........
No call from anybody at UPS...I ended up calling back later in the afternoon
to check the status and they said they have up to 5 days to locate the
package. 5 days to figure out that one of their employees stole the package
from the truck!!!! Or is it just coincidence that the box from Best Buy in
the shape of a PS3 just happened to go missing....not likely.
Well, since I already know the results of the tracer I might as well start
looking for another PS3....
If at all possible I will be using FedEX from now on.

can be sure that UPS will pay much more attention to an angry shipping
clerk from BestBuy than to a end consumer.
If that still doesn't work, call your credit card company (you DID use a
credit card for this purchase, yes?) and contest the charge. Believe me,
an angry credit card company will DEFINITELY get BestBuy's attention, who
will then get UPS' attention.

So every square brown box from Best Buy contains a PS3? That's good to know.

It does suck when a package goes missing, but you've got a lot to learn
about shipping companies. Shit happens, deal with it. You're better off
without that PS3 anyway. Cut your losses and get an Xbox360.

Yeah. Call your credit card bank and let them know what's going on. Then
call Best Buy.
I had something similar happen a couple years back when I went to order an
X800 graphics card from Best Buy. I was given the run around by Best Buy
until I called my credit card company, and what do you know? A new X800
showed up in store waiting for me with my name on it a few days later.

I live in an apartment. There is a manager's office, where delivery
companies can leave packages, and get a signature, if the tenant is not
home.
FedEx has an annoying habit of not doing that, but instead leaving a
note on my door, stating that they need a signature, and so will try
again tomorrow, or I can go pick up the package at their facility. Even
if I leave a note on my door the next day telling them to leave the
package at the managers office and that they can get a signature there,
they sometimes don't.
Well, there was one exception. My $3000 PowerBook, which shipped in a
box that had a notice in prominent, giant type that a signature was
required and it must not be left unattended--that they had no trouble
just leaving sitting outside my front door.
UPS and the USPS are the only ones that always leave packages with the
manager if I'm not home.

First off, I don't think the PS3 or the Xbox360 have really jumped to the
forefront.. Xbox has more games, but there isnt' a game that makes me want
to go out and buy a 360, same goes for the Ps3. I dont' see a reason to
spend that kind of money on a 360 or a ps3 right now.. if anthing I'd
probably get a Wii, but not until june (when Smash Bros. Brawl comes out)

I deal with each of the 4 main shipping carriers on a daily basis. I order
stuff from newegg.com 2 3 sometimes even 4 timea day, it always comes UPS
and 90% of the time I get it in 1 business day (even though I use the
standard UPS ground shipping) DHL is by FAR the worst shippin company, I was
waiting for a package for a week and a half from DHL until I finally got a
tag on my door saying "final attempt, packing is being returned to sender" I
got on the phone and had a fit with those guys, my shop is open 9-5 every
day and no DHL truck even entered the parking lot, never midn tried to
deliever the package. it was a 200lb package too, i'm pretty sure the lazy
guy just didn't want to take it out of his truck. I've had other bad run ins
with DHL as well. for the price, if your shipping somethign under 5 lbs.
USPS is usually the best way to ship something (USPS priority mail). after
that it's more expensive so I usually go with UPS ground, fedex is great,
but the most expensive. and DHL I'll only use if a gun is pointed at my
head. sorry about your PS3, but it looks like they are easier and easier to
get right now, just do an instore pickup at bestbuy or other place, and it
shouldn't be a problem.

I've had the opposite problem. I think it depends on the driver in your
area, too. Unfortunatly the UPS drivers in my area don't care. They'll
drop (literally) your package on the porch, and then do their imitation of
the ding-dong-ditch. They're quite fast, too. By the time I got to the
door after hearing the doorbell, I was just able to catch the UPS truck
squealing as it took the corner at high speed. The package also had
"ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED" stickers all over it, but obviously no adult
had signed for it (I wouldn't call the immature driver an "adult".)
At least our porch has plants growing in front, so you can't see packages
from the street, so it's not as bad as when I lived in a townhouse, and
the UPS moron dropped(!) a Dell computer on my doorstep. I was watching TV
in the living room and didn't even hear the UPS guy come to the door just
a few feet away. He didn't ring the bell or knock - and in a supreme act of
idiocy - forged my signature.
UPS claims I just "forgot" that I signed for the package.

Yeah I'll agree with that -- I find normal post or postal express
services are often much better than the "premium" package services,
though they might take an extra day to deliver. Despite the weird
reputation of postal employees (at least in the U.S.), in my experience
they actually seem to care a bit more about doing things properly.
The other benefit is that when the postal service can't deliver
something because you're not home or whatever, it's usually much easier
to go pick up your package at the local post office 5 blocks away than
it is to play the "when will the delivery guy actually come, despite
what they promised" game with a package service (I really, really, hate
that; maybe it made sense in the 1950s when there was a stay-at-home
housewife in every home, but it hardly does these days).

| the package should be covered by the shipper. If it was lost or stolen and
not delivered Best buy should replace it for free and go back on UPS for the
money.
