Playstation Troubles - HELP

| I have a playstation that's been used before on other televisions that
I'm having a hard time getting to work (think it was even hooked up to
the one I'm having trouble with). It's plugged into the coax jack on
the back of the TV, switched to channel 3 (or 4 on the PS/coax cord)
with the TV on corresponding channel 3 or 4 and when the Playstation is
turned on, you still only get the cable TV that was airing at the time.
Power is good, reset has been pressed and game installed and nothing.
Anyone else run into this kind of problem before? It just appears to
ignore the signal from the game console. Thanks for any ideas.

it might even be the cable it self?
