What extra features? Blu-ray? If that's the case, the PS3 is in trouble.
Even if Blu-ray wins and becomes the standard high def DVD format, it won't
happen for another 2 or 3 years, and by that time standalone players will be
better and cheaper than the PS3. And whatever momentum Blu-ray once had is
truly slipping. Which means the format war is already at a stalemate, which
means people don't want to invest in one or the other, which means years
before this mess is resolved. And Sony needs to convince people to buy PS3s
in 2007 -- at $600 -- not 2009.
And at the end of the day, people buy game consoles for games, not
peripheral functions. Sony needs to convince people that the PS3 is a
worthwhile $500/$600 *game* machine. The PS3's bigger HDD is a definite
plus, and free online play is a nice perk if it works well. But if
cross-platform games look basically the same on both, I'll take the 360's
better controller (with vibration) and my existing friends list.
