| It's not total arrogance. Sooner or later the PS3 will surpass the PS2
market share - this is normal for any console. Most of the worst consoles
trading at the moment have a greater market share than say the Genesis or
SNES - time sees to that.
Whilst Sony are cutting it fairly thin and are hoping that there will be no
problems with the BluRay drive, they will gain huge momentum in a couple of
years when the price drops down to an affordable level for all their PS1/PS2
fans.
The flip side is that Xbox will be starting on its next generation design.
However, its not quite clear cut as the PS3 is half a generation ahead of
the Xbox 360 and sits in a different market now.
Provided that no major hiccups happen in the next couple of years, Sony
might even look back and say their decision secured the future of the BluRay
technology and the company may even trade very strongly on the market as a
result in coming years. We'll have to just wait and see.
