| Hi there. I have a problem with my PS2. A while ago, all sound started
to sound "hissy". Now, the only sound is "white noise", from both DVDs
and games, with the odd bit of normal sound creeping in.
At first I thought it was the old disk read problem, but thinking
about it, it's both streaming audio (songs in games and DVD sound) and
sound effects that are affected. Sound effects are presumably played
from memory, not directly from the disk so I'd guess it's a problem
with the sound output.
I use an RF cable to a normal TV. I made sure the cable was not too
near mains cables, and main sure the tuning on the TV was OK.
Can anyone suggest what I can try next? Is it possible to adjust the
RF channel inside the PS2 box? Can the RF modulator in the cable have
failed?
What to do...
