You know, I just wanted a moment of silence for the innocent men, women and
children of my country who died at the hands of murderers on that day... I
didn't intend it to be "my tragedy is more important than yours, day"...
Sheesh!
If someone pasted something about the Rwandan tragedy, I'd respond with
condolences, not critiques... or if someone posted something about those
children in Japan who were stabbed to death by that psycho a few years ago ,
I'd respond the same way.. or the people who were killed in that Moscow
theater... Or even if someone posted "Let's take a moment for all the
innocents who died on *all* the highways of the world today... I wouldn't
criticize the poster's compassionate observation of the tragedy by pointing
out other tragedies... I'm disgusted that people would think that I'm
somehow elevating the tragedy that touched me the most over anyone else's
tragedy. Why don't we all do some growing up?

Maybe you're right... and maybe you ought not respond to a post that you
don't have anything to contribute to.

Am I missing something? I didn't see any flames in this group generated from
your 9/11 post.

No, I'm the one missing something. I posted a note about 9/11 to a few
newsgroups, but I didn't want to cross post, so I did them individually... I
got a lot of snarky responses, but this NG wasn't one of them... my
apologies...

9/11 was one of the most tragic days since World War 2 and no amout of
Anti-American spin on your part will ever change that. Go move in with one of
the Taliban warlords in the hills of Southern Afghanstian, I'm sure they'll
greet you with open arms.

I was merely commenting on responses I received from *this* NG on a post I
made on 9/11 so I believe that the people in this NG thought it was, with
all due respect.

And you have been on NGs long enough to know that certain OT posting is
acceptable... I.E. Wishing the group a Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwannza,
etc... I was merely remembering those who lost their life on 9/11... It's
not like I posted a porn link, or a political tirade... Lighten up.

Why don't you post a memorial for those lost in those tragedies, rather than
knock another's memorial for lives lost in another tragedy?
I would respond positively to any memorial of lost innocent life that you
might choose to post...

So, you patrol these cybegrounds for any "subjects" who are observing
tragedies.... Well I'd love to hear of some of your other "victories"
`
Get a soul and learn how to observe a tragedy without offending the
victims...

This coming from a piece of shit princox that tried to use the 9/11 tragedy
as a way to draw attention to himself? Right... If you really respected the
victims, you wouldn't try to use their suffering as a way to grandstand.

There were no responses in this newsgroup to your 9/11 post (outside of
this subthread), which you acknowledged last night in this thread. If
people from this newsgroup responded positively off group, they at least
are aware that the message and responses to it that do not address its
non-topicality are hopelessly off topic and do not belong in this group.
It also shows that people are more willing to ignore your maudlin cries
slide than they are your complaints that people don't like your maudlin cries.
A few people respond positively to multilevel marketing and penis cream
spam ads in newsgroups (otherwise there would be no point in doing it at
all); that slim margin who respond positively does not make the pyramid
schemes or penis creams any more on topic. If a bear ate your parents,
that's a terrible thing, but you can't throw my couch out a window
because you feel bad. 9/11 was a terrible thing, but making off topic
posts to try to impose a social agenda that has nothing to do with this
newsgroup is not appropriate.
September eleventh is not a buy for bad behavior on your part. If you
think it is then I'll take part in it too: if you keep prattling on
about 9/11, the terrorists win. Plenty of people are stll hynotized by
it, so it's no wonder that they're going through their ingrained motions
of dramatic grief waving and feigned support. But when you lose control
every September, that's the terrorists remaking you as they want.
