You owe them thanks, I would think, whether they did it for that or not!
And when I said you would "owe" them your life, I meant that they're
responsible for you being alive, not that you should pay them or something.
Your continued existance is due to their actions. I don't think that's
questionable, and I don't think giving someone credit for that is bad.

Work on your reading comprehension and selective memory. You've clipped the
part where I credit original inventions. But then I go on to talk about
GAMING-related innovations that use those inventions, and CONSOLE
implementations of those inventions. Which is the portion relevant to our
group, don't you think?
