COHEN IN HAVANA TRAINING WITH JOHN NICKS
HAVANA, Cuba (ADMS) - Sasha Cohen is back training with John Nicks at the
Ciudad Deportiva, in Havana. Cohen changed coaches several days ago, in news
that has stunned the skating world.
In news that even caught us off guard, Sasha Cohen suddenly left Robun
Wagner, who was training here at the Storm Bay FSC in Port Arthur, Tasmania,
This is something that has certainly taken everyone by surprise.
This move, coming less then three weeks before the start of the ladies
competition as the North American Figure Skating Championships in Portland
will certainly raise a few eyebrows around the skating community. Sasha was
highly favoured to win over Michelle Kwan at the North American championships,
especially with the fact that the new Code Of Points (CoP) system will likely
be used there. Sasha has more difficult elements, and does have the advantage
over Michelle under the new CoP system. With less than three weeks until the
start of the ladies program at the North American championships, this may
well have an effect on her performance and may well hand Michelle Kwan her
10th North American title (though the rabid Tonyaphiles will insist it will
be only her 9th if she wins).
Cohen is a native of Cuba. Sasha was born Alejandra Maruzal Gomez Cohen
on 26th October 1985 in Havana, and started skating at age 7. She represented
Cuba until the year 2001. She has been on the US team since the 2001-2002
season, and won the silver medal for the United States at the 2004 World
Championships, in Dortmund, Germany.
She is one of several skaters from Cuba to have emigrated to the USA in
recent years. In 2002 Felicia Morales Beck and Beatriz Guevara "Bebe" Liang
also emigrated to the United States and will be respresenting the USA at the
North American championships in Portland, Oregon.
FFATHER PUTS KIDS GIFTS UP FOR ACTION ON E-BAY
PASADENA, Texas (ADMS) - In one of the weirdest happenings ever in
technology, a father in Texas who decided that enough was enough of his kids
behaviour put his children's Christmas presents up for auction on the E-bay
site on 23rd December.
In what has got to be one of the most unbelievable, and outlandish
punishment of all time, the father put the gifts, 3 Nintendo DS game/PDA
systems, up for sale on the auction. The first auction closed at US$560.02
(AUS$765.78) on Christmas Eve.
The problems stemmed from a few fights, the 3 boys, aged 9, 11, and 15
were having in the days before the Christmas Holiday. On 23rd December the
dad had decided he's had enough, and put the 3 Nintendo DS systems up for
auction on E-bay.
I In what also has the mum crying as well, is that the dad even took down t
he Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. Not THAT is TIGHT. Taking away Christmas
gifts is one thing, but taking down the Christmas tree? I must say that the
dad of that family has to be the biggest GRINCH who EVER stole Christmas. It
is because of GRINCHES like this guy, that Child Protective Services were
made. I think that Child Protective Services in Harris County should
investigate this matter. This is a case of discipline gone too far.
That dad in that family has to be completely OUT OF HIS MIND on this one. Taking Christmas gifts away, and then taking down the tree is going TOO FAR. We, here are Anonymous Demonic Media Services, regard this is CHILD ABUSE, of the mental kind.
The Nintendo DS system is a REVOLUTION is portable gaming systems. It is
part GameBoy and part PDA. The wireless LAN capabilities give it PDA
capabilities that could make it a tool of working professionals as well,
which bring up another matter. Some of the PDA capabilities could also be
used by the children too keep track of homework assignments and stuff like
that. This is why we find it odd that the dad would take them away, no matter
WHAT the boys did. If I were running CPS in Harris County, I would have the
dad up on child abuse charges.
CUBAN ICE DANCERS GOING FOR SECOND NORTH AMERICAN TITLE
SANTA CLARA, Cuba (ADMS) - The Cuban ice dancing couple of Bebin and
Agosto are preparing to go for their second North American title. They are
the favourites to winn the title.
The Cuban ice dance couple currently training for several hours a day,
in Santa Clara, Cuba. Benajamin is from from Santa Clara, and Tanith is from
Havana. They train both here in Santa Clara, and at the Ciudad Deportiva, in
Havana.. They are at the top of their league right now.
They won both their Grand Prix events this season, and scored a silver
medal in the Grand Prix Final, in Hanoi, earlier this month. They are
favourites, right now, to win the gold medal for Cuba, at the Olympics, in
2006.
Cuba has had medallists, in the past, at North Americans, in ice dancing,
but never at Olympics or Worlds. Urbansky and Marval won the gold medal in
ice dancing at the 1993 North American championships in Hermosillo, Mexico.
Cuba, in general, has had a sports program that has produced gold
medallists in numerous sports. Through the 2000 Olympics. Gymnasts such as
Nadia Comaneche have shown how the superior training in Revolutionary Cuba
has produced some of the world's best athletes.
