how come there are no PlayStation Portable or Nintendo DS newsgroups? both
machines are now released in Japan, and the DS is also here in the U.S.
it's now time for their own newgroups.

You could propose them, but you would have to go through the proposal
procedures which can be time consuming and confusing. UK group has now been
created and I think it took a couple of weeks to do.

Yeah, the gods that be are beyond XXXXing anal. Do a google groups search
on submitting a new group and you will see how these guys act about it.
But, yet, there are some completely absurd ones like alt.alt.alt.alt

Since I learned that I suck at lotto on Monday - and it is past midnight - I
have once again learned something new this day. Thanks!

The new UK one covers all handhelds - gba, ds, psp, etc.

Why? There's not enough traffic in the groups to begin with to warrant the
new groups.

Regional groups *should* be propagated world-wide - they're meant for
discussion from a country's perspective, not for discussion from within a
country.

[snip]

It's true that one can simply use a control message to create a group
but isn't it generally the norm to go to alt.control and make a proposal
before you create it?
