| Hi all,
Thought this group was a little dead so here's some questions for anyone
out there to help answer ;
Which was the first Megadrive/Genesis game to feature samples as part of
the music?
The earliest one I can think of is Heavy Nova (if it did).
Which was the first Megadrive/Genesis game to feature polygons?
The earliest one I can think of is F-22 Interceptor if it actually used
polygons.
We all know that Virtua Racing featured the 'SVP' chip, but were there
any other Megadrive/Genesis games that featured any extra chips?
I'm a complete blank here. I know on the SNES there were titles like
Pilotwings & Super Mario RPG that utilised extra chips but I have no
idea with the Megadrive/Genesis.
Which was the first game to break the colour limitations of the hardware?
First one that comes to my mind is Ranger-X.
Further to that question, how many games DID use more than 64 colours at
once on screen?
Most of us know about the SNES & its 'famed' MODE 7, but were there any
labelled 'modes' on the Megadrive/Genesis?
HAM Mode is the only one that comes to my mind.
Lastly, for the time being, is there any site(s) out there that describe
how the many special effects of the Megadrive/Genesis were achieved?
Things like fake rotation & scaling, raster wobbling (is that even a
REAL term?), etc.
Thanks to anyone who can help out with these !!
Brad.

VR is the only one, unless you count the Camerica/Code Masters game that had
the ability to plug controllers *into* the cart for multiplayer gameplay.

There's also Toy Story, but I'm pretty sure it came out much later than R-X.

Not sure on that, but with the various tricks they had learned down the
line, I'm sure they found ways to make it look like they were using more
colors.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure...but over the years I've read some
pretty interesting stuff just from usenet posters on all of that. Google
Groups may be your best best.

Were they really polygons, or just sprite based drawings of polygons?

As slow as its moving, I'm pretty sure it was real polygons. I could be
wrong though...I'd be interested in hearing if someone has proof either way...
