I think 96 was when the game reached its pinnacle. Even though 94 had
great extra features like decibel level report and Ron Barr, 96 had
the gameplay and the superior sound effects. I was wondering what
player everyone likes best in 96. I would have to say that my
favourite player is Mogilny, mostly because he is very fast and has
the ability to pull huge dekes (if used properly). I also like
Belfour, who is the best goalie in the game measured both by
statistics (rating ranges from 96-99) and by the intangibles. By
intangibles of course I mean that with the game on the line, Belfour
will make the big save and rarely lets in the after-the-whistle goal.
That said, he is slightly more suseptible to the 4 second goal and its
variants than his high rating might suggest.
