Was Speedball II ever released in the US?
|

| This is one of my all-time favorites on the PC, and I'd love to have it for
my Genesis, but I've only seen PAL versions for sale...

Now that I know of...but if the game doesn't have any region lockout, it should
play fine on the US Genesis...I think.

It certainly was, came in a yellow box. Rented it locally here way back
when.
But Powerball was better anyway.

You know, now that you mention it...I think I *have* seen it. Part 1 was in the
yellow box right?

I don't think part 1 ever came out on Genesis - I remember musing about
where/what part 1 was.

Seriously, what is up with all the love for Speedball 2? I thought
Namco's Powerball was much, much better (at least on Genesis).

Don't know that I can explain it, but I just love playing the game. As I
mentioned, I've played this quite a bit on PC, and it was just one of those
games I thought was extremely well done for its time. I don't play PC
games too much, but it's up there on my "must have" list with One Must Fall
2097. Anyway, I tried out the Genesis version in an emulator, and it's
quite comparable and thus a game I want to have in my collection. It's
interesting that I enjoyed playing Speedball 2 way before I was interested
in traditional sports games and shockingly enough, I hate soccer games.
Of course, all this talk about Powerball made me go take a look at it.
Seems similar in concept, but I wouldn't put the graphics over Speedball 2.
Hard for me to judge gameplay at first glance since I'm very comfortable
with SB2 - do you feel it handles better? If I saw it for sale cheap, I'd
probably grab it.

Yarr, and it is not nearly as choppy.
