I have an issue with this combination that I see quite a bit since I hooked
this combo up... Depending on the game inserted in the slot (and sometimes
depending on the alignment of the moon), my system will either hang or go
to the CD player when attempting to load a cartridge game. The CD drive is
empty, and I my assumption would be that a cart present would always
override the CD, but perhaps that is unfounded. Or perhaps a model 2
Genesis would play more nicely?

If anyone else sees this and/or knows what the issue is, please throw me a
clue.

Thanks!

Sounds like you've got a dirty cartridge slot in your Genesis unit. Have you
tried cleaning it(blowing it out with compressed air, or using a system
cleaner cart)? Also, you may want to give cleaning your game carts a shot,
that could also be an issue...

Try cleaning the interface between the Genesis and the Sega CD. - Reinhart
