| ok so here's the thing. a couple of years ago i signed up for an
account on FICS. being paranoid about giving information over the
internet, i didn't want to give my real name so i just made one up. now
i am thinking i would like to apply to be a TM there and the
application requires i put in my real name. my problem is i still don't
want to give them my real name and i don't remember what i gave them as
it back so many years ago. is there any way to see what they have as my
name? i can get the email address they have for me by typing finger but
my name doesn't show up. i don't want to fill in the application with a
different name and then have them go and ban me from the server for
lying about my name

Hi there,
So, just tell them and get over it!
PS- You should have not told them lies about it from the beginning, so
reap the consequences about it!.

So you want to be a Tournament Director for one of the most respected
online chess clubs while lying about your identity because you don't trust
the Internet.
Do you really think your mature and trustworthy enough for such a position?

| You won't be banned from FICS for lying about your name.
It's not a big deal...
