Hi, Im past the stage of understanding how all the pieces move and why I
should look at the whole board but not very far past it. Can anyone
reccomend a good resource for learning more?

Sure.. play some. Go to a site lite playsite.com and play some games.
Sometimes you can find someone willing to mentor.

good luck

Get some books on chess from the library or the shops.
Ask a better player to explain your mistakes.
Write down your own games and replay them seeing if you can find your
mistakes or opportunities for better moves.
Study the games of the masters.

Hope it helps
