| Actually Bill is a decent guy. I personally like him fine. Do I think
he should be running USCF as paid/volunteer ED? No, but then again,
the organization pretty much does what it does.
I think Bill has a certain vested interest in seeing USCF run in
certain ways and it is difficult for him to separate himself from his
personal business interests when he is in a position of USCF power or
governance.
Still, I think that adult chess in this country is pretty much washed
up. I think it will linger on in some small form for years, but the
glory days of many small local tournaments on the weekends are history.
At it's height USCF once had almost 34,000 adult members plus the LM's
and the Sr's. Now they've got about 21,000. I just don't ever see
USCF getting above 25,000 ever again, let alone 34,000.
