I guess this depends upon what one's definition of what "suitable" is.
The building architect gave a detailed presentation about the building.
Every question posed on rgcp, SFAIK, was addressed in the
presentation, and in follow up discussion. IMO, the plan for the
building is well thought out. It should serve the USCF well for many
years, and in the meantime the value of the LMA will be increasing.

This is a debatable point. I would be stunned beyond belief if the new
board were to stop the construction. It would be financial suicide,
open the door to serious litigation, and would make them and the
organization look incredibly bad. If the new board wanted to stop
construction, it needed to be done at the 2005 Board of Delegates
meeting. They very wisely chose not do so, as I hoped and expected.

Support is overwhelming for her to remain on the board. I think she
will do so provided her health permits, and the board follows its
"Standards of Conduct" and continues to include her as they should and
must.

Greg strikes me as a lightening quick study. Just as any great chess
player can do OTB, he can judge a position quickly. He is also a
fiercely independent thinker. I think it is just about guaranteed he
has views on this subject, and to say otherwise does him a very unjust
disservice.

There was never any plan for Beatriz to continue unless there were a
3-3 gridlock, and *that* wasn't going to happen in my estimation
regardless what anyone says to the contrary. This could have broken
for either Goichberg or Tanner. It went for Goichberg. Not having
been present at the meeting where this was decided, this could very
well be exactly the right decision; although, based on what I know
including past history, I think it was not. YMMV.
For the good of chess and the USCF, I truly hope Bill will prove to be
among the USCF's best Presidents in its history. In my estimation, he
will improve his chances of doing so by doing the following:
1) go out of his way to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest
2) work transparently/out in the open as much as is legally and
ethically possible
3) do an excellent job communicating with the members via the USCF
Website and "Chess Life"
4) do his very best to mend fences, bring people together, and recruit
the best volunteers possible to the Board advisory committees
5) actively support the staff, especially Executive Director
6) avoid like the plague micromanaging and meddling with the office
7) support and maintain conservative, responsible fiscal policy
Best regards,
