Please note:

The "Bad Guys" slate consists of:

George John
Steve Shutt
Elizabeth Shaughnessy
Randy Bauer

The "Good Guys" slate consists of:

Bill Goichberg
Greg Shahade
Joel Channing
Robert Tanner

Sadly, Steve Shutt was once a Good Guy but he went bad.

Ballots will be in the June issue of Chess Life. USCF membership who
are 16 or older on 6/30/2004 and live in the US can vote.

Please restrict future posts on this subject to rec.games.chess.politics.

Why are you turning on Elizabeth? That's OK, though; it might help her.

I think all eight of those you mention are good guys. That omits only the
one you did not include in either list.

I know for an absolute fact that there are two slates running in this
campaign. I knew about this line-up more than two weeks ago before any
petitions had been filed.

If you have any doubt that these are the two slates, just wait and
see. They will start writing letters supporting each other.

This is very similar to the 1991 election, when Redman ran a slate
consisting of George John, James Pechac, Bob Holliman and the lady
from South Dakota (I cannot remember her name.) Fortunately, the
Redman slate was wiped out. None of them were elected, and the last
two members of the Redman Gang resigned a few months later.

Steve Shutt has done some very bad things. He introduced the $13
scholastic membership which is ruinously low. Most of the scholastic
members are now joining at the $13 rate. This was Steve Shutt's idea.
He pushed it through. We should be charging the little darlings at
least $19.

Recently, Shutt has provided the extra vote needed to fire 22 long
time staff members in the New Windsor office and move the oganization
to Crossville.

This is an amazing flip-flop because Steve Shutt was the only board
member to vote against the firing of 17 staff members on August 20,
2003.

These are two of the many reasons why I say that Steve Shutt was a
good guy who turned bad.

I strongly supported Elizabeth Shaughnessy for election the last time
around. You may recall that I was the first to announce her candidacy
and I stated that she was sure to be elected.

However, since she was elected to the board, she has become the lap
dog of Beatriz Marinello. She just does whatever Beatriz tells her to
do.

I have been made aware that most of the members in Northern California
who supported for election last time are very unhappy with her now.
They will not support her this time around and will probably vote
against her.

I expect her to be defeated, although by a narrow margin.

Aren't there rules against that kind of thing?? Two Dykes on one Chess
Board? Seems like something is really really wrong.

Elizabeth Shaughnessy is married with two children. She takes care of
her invalid husband, who is bedridden. It is very unlikely that she is
a dyke.
