| September 16th... St. Xavier High (Ohio) hosts Lakeland High
(Florida) as part of the new Ohio vs USA high school football
extravaganza. Several other Ohio high schools will be playing out of
state teams on the same day, including one of the California
powerhouses.
Long distance collisions among high school teams are rare but there
are many this year. Hoover of Alabama will be playing Union of
Oklahoma. Both Hoover and Union are among the top ranked teams almost
every year.
I'll be rooting for nearby Lakeland to beat the Ohio team, but it
will be tough on the road and over that distance. Ohioans often claim
their top ten teams can win state championships anywhere else in the
country.

Texas Division One State Champion Robert E. Lee (Tyler, Texas), and
Ohio Division I titlist Colerain (Cincinnati) meet the week before on
Sept 9. I doubt many Ohio or Texas fans will be flipping between this
high school game and the OSU Texas game which starts an hour earlier.
I predict at least one victory that day for Ohio over Texas.
