I wasn't aware the equivalence had changed. The formula I know is
FIDE = BCF*8+600, which gives your first conversion from about 25
years ago.

What is the formula now? Does it mean FIDE ratings have inflated,
BCF gradings have deflated, or both?

I was BCF 125 as a teenager in 1976, and started playing again at
the beginning of this season. Currently averaging about 110 or so.

Cheers
Tony

The formula changed recently. Tony, if you have been away from
BCF chess for many years, then you probably would not know it.

It's the same formula as before if your BCF grade is above 215.
If not, then it's FIDE = (BCF x 5) + 1250.

I am not certain of the exact reasons for the change.
I suppose that the BCF issued a statement about it,
but I don't recall what it was.
