Randy, you're free to choose your associations, but why you choose to
willing associate with the Brattleboro Bedlam is beyond my
understanding. This is the same person who threatened you with a
lawsuit not three months ago - incidentally one of a string of lawsuits
Philth has 'promised' over the years.

Neil,

Sorry! I know I've done that before, and every time I start... I think,
wait... is that right?

Yep, chess is an addiction. I've always meant to hunt down the Einstein (or
was it somebody else?) quote about chess being a waste of a mind, but I
figure I am too far gone by now. Seriously, I've played chess with people
who I would otherwise never give the time of day for one reason or another.
In some respects, the FIDE motto is all too true.

I had a college class mate of mine who ended up in the state penitentiary
for a terrible crime, but I have no problem playing postal chess with him.
IMHO, the game transcends the contestants.

I will get in contact with you the next time I am headed in that
direction -- probably about the middle of next month.

Sigh. At times I think the name "Neil Brennen" is the most commonly
mispelled name on RGCP.

I understand. You need a game the way a baby needs a bottle. And you
are willing to go to any length to play, even if it means you must
travel to Vermont to meet a disturbed pathological liar such as Phil
Innes. As much as I envy your chess skill, I don't envy your addiction.

I'd be happy to meet you for lunch or dinner, but I'm rather outclassed
by you as a player. I live about an hour outside Philadelphia.

Neal,

I am always willing to play chess. I've played it in Harvard Square (with
NM Murray Turnball -- much to Sloan's surprise, I split 4 games with that
former 2300 player), Lafayette Park in DC, the pedestrian mall in Denver,
against some 2100 player on the mall in Bolder, CO (after winning 4 straight
games I game him back his $10), on the street in San Francisco, etc.

By the way, I'm about to leave public service and join one a leading public
financial management firms. Their headquarters are in Philadelphia, and at
the start I'm going to be working on a project to get the city of
Pittsburgh's finances back on the straight and narrow. Let me know where
you're located, and we, too, might be able to get together for a nice game
of chess.

All the best,
Randy

It's a deal.

I'm joining Public Financial Management, which is a privately held
corporation with 27 offices in 17 states. Their headquarters are in
Phillie, and I'm looking forward to finally making the move to the private
sector... from my signing bonus, I already know it pays a lot better than
the public sector.

The first round of drinks are on me!

Randy

Just the first round? That signing bonus will take care of dinner at
Bookbinders - for both Stan and I.

See! I already warned you about this. Stan and Neil are both fat. Stan
is just a little bit fat whereas Neil is enormously fat but Stan is a
heavy drinker.

Stan and Neil are planning to eat and drink up your entire signing
bonus and you will have to go back to Iowa broke.

Be careful about this dinner. Neil Brennen is a fat guy. Make sure you
pay by seperate checks or else he picks up the check. Otherwise, he
might eat you into bankruptcy.

Randy weighs more than Neil.

And Sam is an anorexic with sores and moles on his face. I know there are
moles because I saw one crawl out of his nose.

Last time I saw Stan he looked to be in great shape for his age. I
assume he's a little older than me, in his mid 40's.

At Bookbinders, the wine might do that.

O, that this too too solid flesh would melt, thaw and resolve itself
into a dew!
