Then, perhaps a few words to "set the record straight" on the large
fine which Mr. Goichberg reported your company had to pay. Do you
believe it was unjustly levied?

| Hi, my name is Toni Speyer, and I'm the Vice President of Marketing for
Natrol, the manufacturer of Natrol brainSpeed and a sponsor of the
recent U.S. Chess Federation tournament in Las Vegas.
I would like to help set the record straight on some issues that will
allow you to have a broader set of facts so each of you can form your
own opinion regarding the concerns that have been raised through this
forum.
First, brainSpeed is not a drug, it is a nutritional supplement. Just
as there are nutritional supplements (e.g. vitamins) for the body,
brainSpeed is a nutritional supplement for the brain. Not only was
this product developed based on solid scientific research and safety
studies, it even offers consumers an on-line test so they can see for
themselves if it works.
Second, Natrol is a 25 year old health and wellness company and is
known for the integrity of its formulas as well as its "A" rating
for Good Manufacturing Practices by the National Nutritional Foods
Association. We deeply respect our consumers' safety and well-being,
which is why we've been around for so long. And we put our money
where our mouth is -- every Natrol product comes with a full money-back
guarantee.
We appreciate the lively discussions that our product has inspired, and
invite the Chess community to contact us at 1-800-2-NATROL,
www.natrol.com or www.brainSpeed.com for more information about our
products and our company. Thank you for your time and attention.

| NEW REVELATIONS
New USCF executive director Bill Hall smokes Natrol, along with
unfiltered Lucky Strikes.
Natrol is a company that is subsidized by the state of Iowa. Randy
Bauer sits on its board of directors and has taken Natrol since age
nine, though it was only in the experimental stage at that point.
Taylor Kingston attributes his sudden rise from class A player to ELO
2300+ to the effects of Natrol.
There is a marketing tie-in with Lucky Strike cigarettes, I am told.
Unfiltered, of course.
Natrol will be required of all children participating in USCF
scholastic events from this point forward. There will be both blood and
urine testing for traces of the required substance.
My source for the drug testing revelation is Eric "FIDE All The Way"
Johnson.

Thanks. We certainly appreciate broad facts, though usually we get all
we need from Sam Sloan and Matt Nemmers.

Right, that's why it is best taken through the nose.

Give us a reference or two to these studies, please.

Please supply a suitable shipping container - or will a standard
chamber pot be acceptable?

:-) This Larry Parr is so much more palatable than the "other" LP.
I wish he'd come around more often and leave the other guy at home.

I never inhaled.
Plus, since I have pledged no chess-related income, I am donating all of my
earnings to the Samford Fellowship to endow awards to adult experts wishing to
become grandmasters.

No, it was a close and careful reading of the collective chess writings of Don
Schultz.

Only if the events are FIDE rated.

I had heard it was Mark Felt.

Right, alcohol isn't a drug either, it's whiskey. You can put lipstick
on a pig sir, and it's still a pig. And as for your junk science,
online test, it's only too easy to rig something like that by flagging
user ID through CGI variables on the internet and then, miraculous
increases will be seen. If you want to back up your ludicrous claims,
then get some multiple panels of double blind independent researchers
to back you up.
The "supplement" industry (snake oil) is unregulated by the FDA.
There's no telling what is in the stuff you put out, and no one in
their right mind should trust the quality or purity of unregulated
processes. Do you realize that more than half the membership of USCF
are children who can never legally take your product anyway? Or are you
hoping people will substitute Natrol in little Johnny's breakfast of
salmon and poached eggs? You're no better than a crack dealer IMHO.
