Chillin' in a hotel room in DC right now (courtesy of all you
hard-working taxpayers) going over my sixth round game and thought I'd
let y'all know how it's shaping up team-wise. Last year the Navy and
Air Force ran neck-and-neck the whole way -- and eventually tied for
first -- and this year is no exception; however, now the Army wants a
piece of the action too:

After round six of the seven round tournament, the standings are:

Air Force: 22 pts
Army: 20.5 pts
Navy/Coast Guard: 20 pts
Marine Corps: 9.5 pts

With such a tight race, everyone -- and I mean EVERYONE -- has to bring
their A-game tomorrow morning. And even though the woodpushing
jarheads are out of it in the team portion, all six of them have a shot
at making the NATO team to represent the U.S. military in international
competition next month in Poland since the top finishers in each branch
will be going overseas to represent.

I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Regards,

Matt

Wow! How exciting! Can't wait to hear the results.

Why were you sent to this tournament? Is it for beginners only?

Yes, and we sailors like to keep it that way. ;-)

Yes, thanks for the correction.

I'm sure nobody will be surprised to hear that I won't be representing
the U.S. military in international competition in Poland. Though I
went +3 -3 =1, my three and a half points weren't enough to make the
NATO team. I know all you Europeans are disappointed.

P.S. The Air Force took home bragging rights this year. All alone this
time, too. (The Navy tied with them for the championship in 2004.)
All in all a great tournament.

Matt

It depends on which branch of the service you're talking about. This
year the Army hosted it. Next year it's the Navy's turn. Last year it
was the Air Force, in 2003 it was the USMC, etc., etc., etc.....

Matt

Matt,
I was curious what person or department in each branch might be a
contact person. Can you help me find that out?
Thanks,
Rob
