"Whyld's statement about Keres being warned
not to finish ahead of Botvinnik was common
knowledge long before 1998. He told it to
many people over the years including, when he
visited America, Don Aldrich." - Larry Parr
(26 May 2005 05:13:38 -0700)
_
Eventually, we learned that the Whyld-Aldrich incident took place in
the year 2000.
_
_
Larry Parr referred to:
_
"What I told [GM Evans] about meeting with
Sosonko in New York." (27 May 2005
07:46:43 -0700)
_
Eventually, after some questioning, we saw that
Larry Parr would not even rule out 2000 as the
year when he told GM Evans about the Botvinnik
reference to the Stalin proposal.
_
_
"[In 1996,] GM Evans did not attempt a full
review of the political and personal evidence
because space was limited and his goal was
to look within the games themselves." - Larry
Parr (27 May 2005 07:46:43 -0700)
_
"Larry Evans' account of his conversation with
Ken Whyld remains unshaken" - Larry Parr
(29 May 2005 09:52:22 -0700)
_
Eventually, after questioning, we saw that the GM
Evans account revealed that at the time he was
writing his 1996 article, he did not know about the
1991 Botvinnik interview or the Keres-Whyld
conversation. The claim was that he had once
known of Keres opening his mouth on the
subject, and somehow forgot about it, telling his
readers the exact opposite. There was nothing
about Larry Parr telling GM Evans about the
Botvinnik interview.
_
_
Then Larry Parr tried telling us:
_
"[Mr. Kingston's] article was written in 1998 --
two years after [the GM Evans article] -- and
it's clear by then that other people knew about
Botvinnik's admission and Whyld said about
Keres.
...
What GM Evans and I knew by 1998 when
[Taylor Kingston's article] was printed in
Chess Life should certainly have been known
by Mr. Kingston, who claimed to undertake
formal research." - Larry Parr (30 May 2005
18:33:35 -0700)
_
So, I asked (30 May 2005 19:19:31 -0700):
_
"Is Larry Parr trying to tell us that by May
1998, both he and GM Evans knew (and
remembered) the 1991 Botvinnik comment
and the Whyld-Keres discussion?"
_
Larry Parr (who previously was so eager to tell
us what was "common knowledge long before
1998") now writes:
_
"GAME OVER
_
There won't be any more answers to these
stupid questions no matter how many times
they are repeated." - Larry Parr (30 May 2005
22:40:41 -0700)
_
So, I guess, the rest of us will have to use past
experience to make the best guess that we can
about whether or not a forthright answer would
help or hurt Larry Parr's case.
