Actually Poland took part in the London, 1948, Olimpics.
Also Czechoslovakia (remember Zatopek? He was already
superb, while got the greatest success in Helsinki, 1952).
I am sure that Hungary had participated too, and perhaps
some other European Soviet satellites too.
On the other hand the USSR's first Olimpics were
Helsinki, 1952.
