Rob,

I've sent you a private message with the e-mail address of the Trust's
Managing Director. I'm sorry to hear about your experience, and I'll
help you get things sorted out.

I will do my level best to curb my irritation. I have been trying to
get several scholastic chess programs started in schools in my area. I
spoke to teachers and principles, had them fill out and mail the chess
trust forms requesting training material and a free set or two. Six
months have passed and two of the schools have not even received a
courtesy letter refusing their request. This prompted me to follow up
with a school from four years ago! I thought they had lost interest, in
reality they never received any communication from the USCF/ Chess
Trust either!

I have to say this appals me. We have children wanting to play chess
yet the organization charged by charter as wanting to advance chess
does nothing.

If anything is going to be done, perhaps I will have to do it myself as
there appears to be little coordinated supports of the programs. I
would like to call upon Mr. Parr or any otherbenefactors who might
possibly be in a position to assist with used tournament sets to help
in the project.

It's a shame that we have kids who want to learn and play chess but
they cannot get the equiptment they need.

Thanks,
Rob Mitchell

I'm sorry to hear about this. If you were in Texas, the Texas Chess
Association could help you out. We have a low cost chess set support
program which has been popular.

A new club in Texas can get 5 sets and boards for $20 total including
postage ($4 each) -- not a bad deal. As many as 15 additional sets and
boards are available at $8 each postage paid. For those in Texas who
have the need and are interested, please refer to information about the
program on the Texas Chess Association's Website at
http://www.texaschess.org

Best regards,

George John
