That seems highly unlikely, IMHO. The Pope is chosen by the world's
Cardinals...and the world is not particularly happy with the U.S. or it's
foreign policy right now. Selecting a Pope is a delicate enough process as it
is, trying to balance about a gazillion competing interests to ensure the new
Pontiff is well-received and embraced by Catholics everywhere. Picking an
American would unnecessarily complicate things.
Just my opinion...

I would say that that is impossible.
The next Pope might be an Asian or an African however.
