Contrary to Mike Murray's characteristic distortion of what
I wrote, I did *not* 'take umbrage' at Taylor Kingston having
*ignorantly* referred to 'Zaire' rather than the 'Democratic
Republic of the Congo'. What I wrote (which Mike Murray has
*not* quoted) was simply to point out that the country was
renamed several years ago. In that post, I did *not* mention
Taylor Kingston by name or make any further comment about him.
So much for my allegedly having 'taken umbrage' (to quote
Mike Murray) toward Taylor Kingston in this case.

I would submit, however, that if a country in the middle of
Europe rather than one (such as the former 'Zaire') in the
middle of Africa had been renamed, then presumably Taylor
Kingston would have known of it. To be realistic, I
do *not* expect Americans, apart from a few exceptional
individuals, to know much that's factually accurate about
Africa. Africa remains the 'Dark Continent' in the
stereotypical coverage of the 'mainstream' US media,
and endemic American racism deeply 'colours'
most American perceptions of Africans.

Given that Taylor Kingston recently has *intentionally
misrepresented* an *obvious misspelling* ('prey' instead of
the intended 'pray') by Goran Tomic in order to attack him
(as far as I know, Taylor Kingston has criticised *only*
Goran Tomic for making any errors in English) while
denouncing Goran Tomic as a 'pious hypocrite', I submit
that it's fair enough for me to address Taylor Kingston's
ignorance of a major African country's name.
