Petrosian had a bit of a rebound after losing the title.
Not only did he win the 1969 championship, but he took either
first or second (possibly shared) in something like 80% of
the international events he played in in the next decade.
My guess would be that plotting annual ratings, instead of
five year averages, would show a bit of a bump for Petrosian
after losing the title, followed by a slow decline through
the later 1970s.
