Where is Chess Cafe.com?? (Re: Another sweetheart deal?)

| The chess cafe site seems to have disappeared. The ordering site is
still up on Chess.org, but all those good columns, archives etc. are
gone. Does anyone know if this is just a glitch, or is it permanent?

| TRANSPARENCY IS UNPLEASANT
<Joel: I am looking forward to the full disclosure as you promised.>
-- Beatriz Marinello
Although I agree with Beatriz Marinello's point,
it does not go far enough.
Not only the results need to be fully disclosed,
but the ongoing process needs to be transparent in
nearly all cases.
I readily concede that there are instances where
temporary secrecy (sealed bids, marketing strategies,
etc.) is justified, but the negotiations with the Cafe
do not constitute such an instance.
There is no reason why the debates within the
Board and the conditions being offered and agreed upon
between the parties cannot already have been made public.
The reason among the Board members is likely
this: we have to keep the process secret right now
because otherwise there will be a frenzied blood
swishing among the piranhas in the political riverine
waters. Well, yes, that's true enough. But it is
also irrelevant. No one ever said that transparency
is pleasant for officeholders.

| Point of information: Beatriz knows everything I know, and, if I
understand her correctly, she agrees with what I'm saying. What
"point" of hers are you agreeing with?

As a non-member who doesn't support and has no vested interest in the
organization, the 'suggestions' of Larry Parr will carry as much weight as
non-member Gordon Roy Parker's did last July when he was crying
"discrimination" over the Grudge Match chat logs.

Chess Cafe was still there last night, and it is there this morning.
