| I understand that the USCF provides ratings Kevin. I also understand
that those ratings can be manipulated. When you were commenting on
Stan Vaughan's conduct, you seemed to understand that too. However,
when it comes to your own rating and your son's rating, the idea that
manipulation could take place seems not to be within the realm of
possibility.
Regarding the discovery that your Life Master title was tainted Kevin,
I notice that you respond with a paragraph where every sentence ends
with a question mark. You criticize me for failing to ask questions,
but your record for giving answers leaves something to be desired.
Here are some simple questions for you Kevin. To the best of your
recollection, when did it come to your attention that your Life Master
title was tainted by the bogus tournaments? To the best of your
recollection, when did you surrender your Life Master title and your
2200 floor?
Could you please explain the criteria according to which your life
master title was awarded Kevin? If it involved maintaining a 2200
rating over 300 games, did you know how many games short you were prior
to the submission of the bogus tournaments in late 1999? If so, how
many was it?
Could you please explain the criteria according to which your son was
invited to participate in the 2001 Denker? Was it purely based on his
rating?
Here is another question for you Kevin. When you learned that these
bogus tournaments had been submitted, did you ever make any effort to
make your own estimate of the effect on the ratings of the players in
question? If so, what information did you take into account to make
this determination?
BTW, I do know that the website ratings calculator and the performance
ratings it produces are not a perfect guage. I use them because they
seem to be the best tool available to me. If you have reason to
believe that they present a particularly misleading picture in some
regard, I would be happy to hear why. If you can suggest another tool,
I would be happy to consider it.
BTW, it was William Aramil's father who brought this matter to my
attention.
