I am going back into the Book Publishing Business
|
|
| Sam Sloan 2004-12-24, 5:45 pm |
| My company has published nearly one hundred books since 1968. Because
of the increased costs of paper and printing, I have not reprinted any
books for several years. However, ebooks are now becoming popular, so
I am going to start reprinting a few of them as ebooks to see how it
goes.
I have more than one hundred unused ISBN numbers left over. I got them
when they were cheap. Now, they are expensive. So, if anybody wants me
to publish their book, I can assign a new ISBN number to it at very
low cost.
Here is my first ebook. It contains material the readers of this group
will already have, so no need to buy it. I have just created this to
learn the method. It has the picture of a beautiful woman on the cover
to attract buyers.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=4514187258
This book consists of Court Documents filed in New York Supreme Court
regarding the United States Chess Federation. It includes photographs
of 13 of the principal parties. This is a Microsoft Reader ebook. If
you do not have Microsoft Reader, you must download it at
http://www.microsoft.com/reader Otherwise, you will not be able to
read this book.
This book has two ISBN Numbers:
ISBN: 1881373037 United States Chess Federation litigation (Orsden
Press)
ISBN: 0923891382 Case of Beatriz Marinello (Ishi Press International)
If you buy this book it will either be sent to you by email as an
attachment or if you prefer you will be directed to a website where
you can download it. Once it is in your computer, just click on it
directly and it will automatically come up as a Microsoft Reader
ebook.

Awww, if you had just released it earlier I could have put it on my Xmas
list. I'd even want a limited edition, leatherbound signed edition.

Sam,
Isn't the photograph of Beatriz the one that was used on the cover of Chess
Life?
I am sure you are aware that Chess Life and its photographers have all of their
photo copyrighted.

I found this photo on the website of the Chile Chess Federation. You
can find it there too, just by searching "Chile Ajedrez Mansilla".
The quality of the photo is very poor. It was cetainly not
professionally done. You cannot claim the rights to that photo unless
you can prove that a Chess Life photographer took it. However, that
would not work either because if you could prove who took it, then you
would have to fire him because of his shoddy work.
Meanwhile, I am looking around for a better photo of Beatriz.
I need a photo of Hanke too. His photo is even worse than the photo of
Beatriz. Perhaps I should ask his relatives in Paraguay.
You will notice that the photos I took myself are vastly better,
including the photo of Seirawan, of Shaughnessy and of Irina Krush.

Sam changed pixel number 3,523,823,409,230,582,034,092,834,009,234 so
technically it's not the same photograph.

Yes it is the same company.
Thank you very much for pointing out this website. I had been trying
for a long time and had not been able to get this information off the
web.
