We've had that discussion on the newsgroup. 501c3 is for charities
and the USCF is not a charity. It's mostly a service organization for
tournament organizers, the same way the American Beef Council is a
service organization for cattle ranchers and/or meat packers. The
American Beef Council does not qualify for 501c3 and neither does the
USCF.
