I don't consider .DBF proprietary, the format standard is published and
well-known, PHP can read and write .DBF formats, I suspect other
languages can too.
And as I said before, if someone's got a program that can create a
tab-delimited file (which would be my first choice for the next format
to support), I'd LOVE to hear from that person. But with the many things
that still have to be done, I don't really feel it is productive for me
to spend a day or two writing that code if there isn't anyone ready to
utilize it yet, if only because I won't have any data to test my code with.
