Phil Innes<<
Phil,,
"The author is a political scientist with a Master of Fine Arts degree
from the university of Arizona." as written after the letter.
Being a political scientist says it all. He thinks just like a leftist,
but I dont know for sure.
Fischer put Iceland on the global map. It's only fitting that they do
the favor back when he needed it the most.

I like toffee. Nobody is telling you to like it so stay away from it if
you don't like it. However, nobody, including you can tell me not to
like it.

There was nothing in that text that is "leftist" to my mind - and I
would, living in the USA (which I'm not) vote Democrat.<<
Martin,
I agree, there was nothing in the text alluding anything that author is
a leftist. Thanks for your insight. I am a Democrat. Do you have
Democratic political parties also in Sweden?

Liam, this is strong stuff. Tell us about the person who speaks it, and what
your understanding is of why Iceland offers the man a political refugee
status.

Not at all. If I hated Fischer, why did I contribute to Donaldson's
book The Unknown Bobby Fischer? But don't you think endless Fischer
posts are a bit like toffee....
DUKE
Tell me, Major, are you fond of toffee?
MAJOR
Very!
COLONEL
We are all fond of toffee.
ALL
We are!
DUKE
Yes, and toffee in moderation is a capital thing. But to
live on toffee - toffee for breakfast, toffee for dinner, toffee
for tea - to have it supposed that you care for nothing but
toffee, and that you would consider yourself insulted if anything
but toffee were offered to you - how would you like that?
COLONEL
I can quite believe that, under those circumstances,
even toffee would become monotonous.
