They are more interested in Sam's armpits Bruce. It has become an idee fixe.
People can't stop writing about them.

Maybe he should? And then maybe I would change my tune? Maybe I would stop
writing about what might be reasonable behavior and become similarly fixated
by who says what, rather than what is said? Abandoning even the pretence of
any sensible dialogue, and drag my arse around in a circle, wailing and
crying out "Woe Woe and thrice Woe!"

With, or it must be said, even without respect: the subject matter is not
Sam Sloan, it's about USCF's move.

Since a dearth of information currently exists, and USCF itself appears not
to want information as such, by not bothering to even compare Crossville
with anything else in a reasonable way, then I submit the subject is not a
matter of taking Sam's rumours seriously;

the subject is whether anyone is taking the future seriously.

Otherwise there is a small danger that we just project all our fears onto
Sam, and do not examine these issues first in ourselves. In fact, as a group
we create a classical scapegoat of him.

Mr. Tim Hanke has made his own contributions here to support this behavior,
and it is clear from his statement that he only wants to hear from those who
agree with him, and others can go to hell. This is why he compares this
newsgroup to his conception of the middle-ages <lol>

This is state-of-the-art information sharing! of official doubletalk such as
'no secret agenda' while the 'Crossville Report' goes unpublished.

Perhaps you think this is Sam's Sloan's fault, or perhaps you will think
this is nothing to do with Sam Sloan's personality or history or armpits, or
perhaps you will wonder why so much opprobium is projected onto him instead
of focussing on the issue?

Perhaps you will even resent those who still try to get at vital bits of
information, and see these folks as a little 'tense' as you put it, whereas
you appear not to be able to relate to putting energy and attention into
making chess decisions.

Cordially, Phil Innes
