Dear Tim,

I wish you well in your future endeavors.

Mike Nolan claims that I do not wish you to apply for the position of editor.
Nonsense, once again.

I wrote that Tim cannot step into the job right after Board service. There
has to be an interval, preferably at least 18 months.

As it happens, I do not favor removing Kalev Pehme because he has run
afoul of a few politically correct. conventions. I think he should stay on,
but if the board decides otherwise, then Tim would make a splendid replacement
.... after that decent interval.

Look, Tim has a razor-sharp mind, a normal personality, knows chess and
has read widely. 'Nuff said. He can do the job very well indeed.

Phil: employ the epee upon poor Mike Nolan, if you must, but you will
only resemble that splendid spassinicide, the Marquis de Maynes, our favorite
Sabatini villain.

Yours, Larry Parr
